The Last Month of the Year

So last month I went to Virginia and DC for a conference. And as expected the autumn foliage was breathtaking. In my last post I mentioned posting some pics so here it is. I guess you can say I'm quite lucky to be able to go to these conferences and go to places that not too many people have access to. It was exhausting, I'll tell you that... I was working 15-hour shifts. But being one of only two people organizing this event I'd say we did a pretty darn good job. It was also nice to hear from the attendees that they had a great time. Of course it really helps to be surrounded by people who are such a joy to work with.

The weather in VA/DC was beautiful. The full moon was up so I had to take this photo. After the conference I took a much needed break, which was perfect since it was Thanksgiving weekend. I got to spend a lot of time with my family and I slept in a lot. I looooooove it :)
Our Thanksgiving dinner was great. Besides the turkey, hubby made some maple sausage gravy, pommes dauphinois, and sauteed mushrooms and asparagus. We also had creamy chicken with pasta and shrimp soup with quail eggs. We were stuffed. Strangely, though, after two hours I felt like I had to eat again (but I didn't). The pumpkin pie just gave it that perfect ending. We all had fun playing Wii and fooling around with Garage Band.

I didn't shop on Black Friday. I like taking my time when I shop, and nowadays, I only shop for the kids. Besides, I like personalizing/making our gifts. It's unique and it really doesn't cost much. If I could just find the time to make them. Gosh, it's already December but still technically fall season. It's been quite cold... well, colder than the normal temps. Now would be a good time to find a fleece beanie pattern.

  1. Sounds like you had a great time in DC/Virginia. That's awesome!

Happy Holidays! Glad your Thanksgiving was a success. It all sounds sooo good!!

I hear ya about the shopping thing. The thought of shopping on Black Friday makes me shiver. I can't take it. I understand about personalizing a gift! It's so much more meaningful than buying a bunch of crap on sale. I haven't don't anything for my xmas gifts yet! Yikes!! I feel like there's not enough time in the day for everything I want/need to do. I don't know how you do it.

    Have a great weekend, Peach!
